SUMMARY PROFILE: 

Nontokozo studied in KZN and obtained her Marketing Degree at the University of Natal in Durban.  Nontokozo has been employed in numerous marketing positions at various South African multinationals.

In brief, Nontokozo holds 18 years marketing experience and 10 of these have been executive positions in various businesses including some of the most high profile FMCG companies and financial services brands in the country (Standard Bank, British American Tobacco, Coca Cola, South African Breweries, Vodacom and Hollard).

A career highlight for the marketing executive was her tenure at the South African Breweries, where she was responsible for leading several successful brands, including Brutal Fruit and Carling Black Label – earning her a 12-month stint in global secondment based in London. Upon her return to South Africa, Nontokozo headed up Brand Marketing Support as a direct report to the Marketing Director.

The decision to resign from SAB after seven years of a very successful career was driven by a need to meet new challenges and to explore the dream of entrepreneurship.

In August 2012, Nontokozo officially assumed ownership of a small salon on 4th Street in Parkhurst, Johannesburg. Utilizing her marketing experience, she has successfully re branded the business and relaunched it as Spa 88.

After a while Corporate called.  With her extensive and very successful marketing career, it was hard to leave the challenge of corporate marketing, so in 2013 she had a brief stint at Vodacom working on a contract basis.

This was the beginning of what would followed by an exciting offers that introduced her to her first financial services marketing executive role as Hollard GM (Communications, Sponsorships and Studio) in December 2013 which was followed by the Standard Bank Head of marketing for Personal and Business Banking (the largest division within the bank) from April 2016, where she was responsible for several campaigns including a brand turnaround campaign known as “What’s Your Next”.  The “What’s Your Next” campaign is credited for improving customer satisfaction and saw the largest gain of any bank in the country in 2015.

To meet exciting, new challenges in the insurance sector Nontokozo was head-hunted and joined MMI in 2017 as Group Chief Marketing Officer of MMI Holdings.
